Haebangchon is a local-feel village nestled on a hillside in the Huam-dong and Yongsan 2-ga-dong area of Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

Go further inside Sinheung Market and you’ll find a Mexican taco spot sitting right next to a saju and tarot cafe. There are so many photo-worthy corners tucked into these alleys that you’ll probably catch yourself snapping pictures nonstop without even realizing it.

Tucked away between the alleys are all these little roastery cafes, each with its own latte art, its own desserts, its own completely different vibe. What Looks Like a Downside in Haebangchon Is Actually the Best Part

The downside is that the alleys in Haebangchon are long and narrow, so the whole area can feel like a total maze 😵‍💫. But honestly, that’s exactly what makes it so easy to spend hours here. Cafes by day, then dried pollack snacks and draft beer by night! Tucked deep in the alleys are also plenty of small bars that drinkers truly love. Once the sun starts to set, the whole neighborhood shifts into a completely different mood, and that contrast is exactly what makes it so memorable 🍀

If you’re planning a trip to Haebangchon, it’s worth timing your visit so you’re still there as evening rolls in.

During the day, wander through the alleys and discover hidden cafes and little shops, and then at night, head up to the hillside for a view of the Seoul skyline, with Namsan Tower peeking in from the distance. That’s when you know you’ve found the photo spot 📸 Cafes with rooftops are especially worth it around this time of day!

So honestly, Haebangchon is way too good a neighborhood to visit at just one time of day 😉

Once you’ve seen these three completely different sides of Haebangchon, that’s when you’ll really feel like you’ve experienced it properly.

Haebangchon Seoul｜How to Get There Without Getting Lost

It’s about a 10 to 20 minute walk from Exit 2 of Noksapyeong Station on Subway Line 6 🚋 That said, there are quite a few hills, so if you’re not confident in your stamina, a bus or taxi is a solid option, haha! It also connects easily on foot from Itaewon, so you can pair the two neighborhoods together for one trip. Itaewon → Haebangchon is about a 15 minute walk.
